Welcome back to 10 Days of Gluten-Free! Today, I am psyched to be discussing gluten-free flours. Oh how I love having my favorite gluten-free flours on hand to bake with!
There are many different types of gluten-free flours. Some flours are very high in fiber and protein, while others contain a lot of starch and help bind other ingredients together in a recipe. There are light flours like rice flour as well as heartier flours, such as buckwheat flour.
Most grocery stores carry at least a few gluten-free flours. The most common gluten-free flours found at nationwide grocery stores are usually almond flour, brown rice flour, coconut flour and/or white rice flour. Personally I’ve had a hard time finding some of the heartier and healthier alternative gluten and grain-free flours (e.g. quinoa flour, hazelnut flour, teff flour) locally. I tend to buy these flours online as the prices are much better than my local health food and Whole Food stores.
Here is a list of some of my favorite gluten-free flours with links to where to buy them online for the best prices:
Flax Seeds (You can grind them up into flax seed meal in a coffee grinder)
Oats, Gluten-Free (You can make oat flour by grinding them in a coffee grinder)
Oat Flour (Certified Gluten-Free)
Rice Flour (Brown Rice)
What are your favorite gluten-free flours? Where do you purchase them? Feel free to share with all of us in the Comments section!

Wow! Thanks for the info! It’s great to know what flours taste best and also to know where to buy them the cheapest
Thanks for the shopping list of flours. I buy most of mine from Amazon with the subscribe and save. But I do grind my own GF oats and brown rice.
Wow, I never knew there were so many GF flours out there! Thanks, Laura, for this awesome list and links to buy them. I am learning so much from your site!
Thank you for your wonderful comment. I hope you get a chance to try out some new GF flours soon!
Wow, this is new to me. I’m new to GF items so this is a good list! Thanks!
There are some great choices for people trying to eat gluten-free these days! Are all of these CARB free, too?
Would love a good bread recipe using the more healthy flours. Thanks for the list!
Your wish is my command Cindy
I have made a few breads this past week and will be posting them in the near future.
I left a posted on FB, but I was saying thank you! This is great! I have only purchased the Blanched Almond flour and found, for me, it was cheaper by $5.00, to order directly from the company. Plus, they also have dried fruits! YUMMY! I ordered some raspberries too!
I love to try out various gluten free flours. Thanks for the list!
thanks for the great info

We are newly gluten-free so I’m so happy I found your blog! I’m just getting started with gluten-free cooking but thankfully everything has been edible so far!
I use a lot of different kinds of flours. Thanks for all your info on where to buy them.
Wish I had had your info before I spent $$$ on flours I will never use!
Oh no Deborah–I hope you can find some use for those other flours!
Since I also watch my carbs, I mostly use coconut flour, almond flour, and flax meal. Luckily, I can get those at my local grocery, though I could probably order them online for less.
Thanks for the info!
More great info. Thank you.
