bbq, chips, crackers, paleo, snack, grain free, gluten free, dairy free

I used to loooove BBQ Potato Chips from Kettle Brand Chips. OK, I still do ūüôā They are totally addicting in every way possible! But as I move toward reducing processed vegetable fats in my diet, homemade snacks are my new passion. And this new creation fit the bill. Flavorful, fulfilling and great paired with your favorite topping!

Mystic Blue Spice Company, located in Buckeye, Arizona, recently sent me two fabulous spice blends to try. I used their Sticky and Sweet BBQ spice blend in this recipe and it is one amazing combination of spices! The recipe below is an alternative option to my Grain-Free “Cheese” Crackers. Mystic Blue Spice Company sells stellar spice blends that are not only tasty, but very creative! It’s nice to spruce things up from time to time right?!

Love this recipe, Laura!  Wow.  I also adore BBQ flavored chips.  They are hands-down my favorite.
Have you been following a paleo diet?  I know your husband is gluten free, but just curious if you doing it full time (or if you husband is) and how he is feeling.  I still eat grains (about 25% in my diet) I found I do better that way.  I am unable to digest nuts (something I figured out last year when I did the SCD full time).  Bummer because I love them.  Even when I soak them for like 36 hour and dehydrate.  Anyway, I hope everyone is your home is well.
    Have a great weekend. ¬†ūüôā

    • thetastyalternative¬†Hey Sweet Amber! I used to be able to scarf down BBQ chips like no other ūüôā I am trying to eat more paleo alongside my family, but we are not totally grain-free. We still enjoy rice pasta and rice, etc. from time to time. I didn’t know you couldn’t eat nuts…oh no! How did you discover that?

        Hi Laura,
I’m featuring your awesome BBQ cracker chips this week! ¬†ūüôā

Oh, and I found out that nuts really bothered me when I was on the SCD full time last year. ¬†I just can’t do nuts and beans in large quantities. ¬†They are just too hard to digest for me. ¬†I have such a sensitive system. ¬†I can do them in moderation (a few times each week) and I’m okay..but I cannot eat them everyday. ¬†Too bad, but I do okay with grains in moderation too. ¬†I just try and find a healthy balance, you know. ¬†But I really know what doesn’t agree with me.

        • thetastyalternative¬†Thank you so much Amber!

  3. I am a cracker maniac! This recipe is just great and will help me get away from grocery store crackers which are NOT all that great for you. Thank you, thank you!
